Padmaavat' earlier titled 'Padmavati', had been mired in endless controversies ever since its announcement and as a result, had been postponed by almost two months. After much delay, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film finally found a release date on January 25, 2018, and has been breaking records ever since.

The film starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singhhas been applauded by the critics and the audience alike. They have even found fans in Bollywood biggies like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah RukhKhan, Alia Bhatt, Karan Joharand others. According to a report on BoxOfficeIndia.com, the film has raked in an estimated Rs 18.50 crore at the ticket window on Day 11 of its release. The film which opened at Rs 18 crore has collected Rs 43.50 crore on its second weekend, thus taking its total collection to a staggering Rs 203 crore in just eleven days despite not releasing in a few states. Experts are looking forward to the film's collection grown in the coming week as it has been doing really well in the Mumbai region.

She captures the fancy of the reigning Sultan of Delhi, the tyrant Alauddin Khilji, who becomes obsessed with her and goes to great lengths to fulfil his greed.
